For completing the project, "Codification of legislation regarding people with disabilities" and publishing its findings.
The project, initiated in 2001, encompasses collecting, processing and classifying information pertaining to people with disabilities.
The information collected encompasses disability issues as they relate to a variety of social sectors, including social security, health, transportation, justice, the economy, employment, social welfare, sports and culture. A group of specialized lawyers implemented the project, which was completed in 2008. A first volume regarding welfare issues for people with disabilities was published in 2006. Three additional volumes, including the codified legislature and an electronic data system with the same material, formed the remaining publications from the project.
This grant, as all grants made in the Spring of 2007, is dedicated to the memory of Mary A. Dracopoulos, sister of our late founder, Stavros S. Niarchos.
